Double screw extruder has developed various screw components and also introduced combined screws. This screw is not an entity but is composed of screw components with different functions.
That is to say, it is a screw that can obtain various characteristics by changing the number and combination order of screw components, breaking through the framework of traditional conventional full-threaded three-section screws. It is no longer a three-section screw. This is a big progress in the screw design of double screw extruder.
Its biggest feature is strong adaptability and easy to obtain good working conditions, which to some extent solves the contradiction between "universal" and "cannot". Therefore, it has been more and more widely used. However, the screw design of the double-screw extruder is more complicated and it is difficult to use on screws with smaller diameters.
According to the relative position of the two screws, double screws are divided into meshing and non-meshing types. The meshing type is further divided into partially meshing and fully meshing types according to its meshing degree.
The center distance S of the fully meshing double screw is S=r+R (where r is the root circle radius of the screw and R is the top circle radius of the screw). The center distance of partially meshing double screw satisfies the relationship of 2R>S>r+R. The center distance of non-meshing double-screw is S≥2R.
Meshing counter-rotating double screw extruder is widely used in extrusion forming and ingredient granulation; meshing co-rotating double screw extruder is mainly used for blending, filling, and fiber-reinforced composite modification of polymer materials; non-meshing double-screw extruder is mainly used for devolatilization, reaction extrusion, coloring, and glass fiber reinforcement.
According to the different rotation directions of the screws, double screws are divided into co-rotating and counter-rotating. The counter-rotating double screw is further divided into inward and outward. Co-rotating double screw extruders are mostly used for mixing materials, and counter-rotating double screw extruders are mostly used for forming products.
Double screw extruder According to the mutual relationship of the two screw axes, double-screws are divided into parallel double screws and conical double screws. The two screw axes of parallel double screws are parallel to each other. The two screw axes of conical double screw form an angle, and the thread is distributed on the cone surface. Conical double screw extruders are mainly used for extruding materials with poor flowability and high viscosity.
