Most of the management team members of KEYA came from research institutes. Mr. Liu said that technical talents have limited business minds and are not good at expanding business opportunities, but focus on manufacturing the twin screw extrusion machine. Therefore, some outsiders think that KEYA's style is conservative and its growth in scale is not rapid.
As early as 1993, KEYA has created an output value of 10 million yuan and has grown steadily, reaching a peak of 250 million yuan this year. KEYA's annual sales of machines have basically stabilized at more than 300 sets. In the past 30 years, KEYA has provided more than 8,900 machines for plastic modification companies in more than 60 countries around the world.
KEYA promises to customers that our equipment will be repaired free of charge within one year regardless of the reason. And KEYA regards the cost of free warranty as an important standard to measure product quality in corporate management. The company has controlled the annual maintenance cost at around 100,000 yuan for two consecutive years, which is equivalent to one thousandth of the output value, which is a fairly high level in the industry and well reflects the "Be fine" expected by KEYA. Mr. Liu said that if the maintenance expenditure is still at the level of one million yuan, it means that there are more problems with the product.
KEYA has a total of 126 employees and is committed to making the double screw extruder machine products. A few years ago, in 2015, it achieved the profit target of one million yuan per capita output value, and this year it will be close to 2 million yuan. Mr. Liu pointed out that this year's prosperity is not due to the new crown epidemic, but when the epidemic comes, the country's prosperity must rely on the manufacturing industry, especially the high-end manufacturing industry, which can be called the "Treasure of the Town". When the epidemic approached, KEYA provided 103 sets of production lines to the PP melt blown material industry urgently needed by the epidemic in two months, forming an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of PP melt blown material, and contributing to the prevention and control of the epidemic at home and abroad.
As a member of the machine manufacturing industry, KEYA is constantly improving product functions and efficiency and seeking transformation. However, Mr. Liu believes that it is not necessary to develop new products to transform. He shared his unique insights on the progress of the industry by taking the speed increase process of the twin-screw extruder as an example.
The maximum speed of China's first-generation twin-screw extruder was 300 rpm. In 1999, Liu Guangzhi led his team to develop the second-generation product, which increased the maximum speed to 600 rpm. KEYA successfully launched a third-generation product in 2012, with a maximum speed of 900 rpm. It is not easy to increase the speed. It is necessary to consider all aspects of the whole set of equipment, such as design accuracy, manufacturing accuracy, assembly accuracy, debugging and so on. However, the increase in speed can create higher economic benefits for customers: a machine with a screw diameter of 70mm, if the maximum speed is 300 revolutions, its output can reach 300-500kg; if the speed is increased to 600 revolutions, its output can reach 600-700kg; the speed is 900 revolutions, and its output can reach 1 ton.
The new SK40 Plus twin-screw extruder was exhibited at the China International Plastics Exhibition held in early November 2020 and attracted much attention.
KEYA can develop world-class twin-screw extruders, no less than international counterparts in terms of design concept, manufacturing process, material quality and many other aspects. However, Mr. Liu also admitted that compared with advanced countries such as Germany and Japan, China's manufacturing industry does still have a gap in terms of supporting the industrial chain. This is not a problem for a KEYA company.
As one of professional twin screw extruder manufacturers, KEYA has created a new situation in which domestically-made twin-screw extruders replace imports. The processing equipment used in the domestic plastic modification industry before is basically from abroad. However, through the efforts of many domestic enterprises headed by KEYA, they accurately grasped the new direction of industry development, and jointly met the new problems and challenges that emerged in the industry, and worked together to promote the coordinated development of the industrial chain and innovation chain, and the gap was narrowing.
Mr. Liu said that the traditional manufacturing industry is the backbone of the country, and the development of the country needs people and enterprises who do things in a practical manner. Although the profit margin of the machine manufacturing industry is low, the work is hard, and the scale is difficult to be bigger, KEYA still wants to "build the best twin-screw extruder in China" as the goal to do firmly and make more contribution to China's manufacturing industry.
